Valheim Boss Order & Progression Guide (1.0 — All 8 Bosses)
The complete Valheim 1.0 boss order from Eikthyr to Kall Fimbulbringer, with summoning items, biome progression, and what to craft before each fight.
The 1.0 release on September 9, 2026 closed Valheim’s five-year Early Access arc by adding the eighth and final boss, Kall Fimbulbringer, in the Deep North biome. This guide lays out the full order, every summoning requirement, and the gear check before each fight. One note up front: the first seven bosses each drop a trophy for the Forsaken Power altar and materials that unlock the next crafting tier — the eighth and final, Kall, drops the ending itself instead.
What is the boss order in Valheim 1.0?
Valheim has eight bosses, one per biome, and they are intended to be fought in this order:
| # | Boss | Biome | Summoning items | Base HP | Added |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Eikthyr | Meadows | 2× Deer Trophy | 500 | Launch |
| 2 | The Elder | Black Forest | 3× Ancient Seed | 2,500 | Launch |
| 3 | Bonemass | Swamp | 10× Withered Bones | 5,000 | Launch |
| 4 | Moder | Mountain | 3× Dragon Egg | 7,500 | Launch |
| 5 | Yagluth | Plains | 5× Fuling Totem | 10,000 | Launch |
| 6 | The Queen | Mistlands | Sealbreaker (or 3× Seeker Soldier Trophy) | 12,500 | Mistlands (2022) |
| 7 | Fader | Ashlands | 3× Bell | 25,000 | Ashlands (2024) |
| 8 | Kall Fimbulbringer | Deep North | 3× Malicious Blood | 47,000 (3 phases) | 1.0 (2026) |
The first seven bosses each drop a trophy for the Forsaken Power altar and materials that unlock the next tier of crafting; Kall, the eighth, ends the game instead of granting a power. Skipping ahead is technically possible but almost always ends in a quick death — enemy difficulty in each biome assumes the previous boss’s gear.
Why does the boss order matter so much?
Each boss gates a crafting tier, and crafting tiers gate survival. The first seven bosses each drop a trophy for the Forsaken Power altar plus materials that unlock the next tier of crafting — Eikthyr’s hard antlers become the first pickaxe; The Elder’s drop opens the Swamp’s crypts; Bonemass’s wishbone reveals silver buried in the Mountains. Kall Fimbulbringer, the finale, breaks the pattern: his drops trigger the ending instead of a power. The crafting ladder mirrors the boss ladder almost one-to-one, so the fastest progression route is: clear a biome’s dungeons and resources, beat its boss, craft the next tier, sail on.

How do you summon each boss?
Bosses are summoned at their altar by sacrificing the items above. Farming spots, in order:
- Eikthyr — hunt deer in the Meadows for trophies.
- The Elder — Ancient Seeds drop from Greydwarf Brutes and from destroying Greydwarf nests.
- Bonemass — Withered Bones come from the muddy scrap piles inside Sunken Crypts (and Swamp chests); you need ten.
- Moder — Dragon Eggs sit in drake nests across the Mountains, each guarded by drakes; one egg weighs 200 and can’t teleport, so plan the haul to the altar.
- Yagluth — Fuling Totems come from Fuling villages (a 50% chance by each bonfire), outposts, and Berserkers in the Plains.
- The Queen — the Sealbreaker is assembled from pieces found in Mistlands dungeons (three Seeker Soldier Trophies also work).
- Fader — Bells are found in the Ashlands.
- Kall Fimbulbringer — three Malicious Blood, from destroying the Malicious Ice at the heart of Jotun invasions (Mörkhalla also yields them). They open the Aesir Passage into The Prison, where Kall is held — see the Kall Fimbulbringer boss page for the full fight.
Altars appear as map markers once you’re nearby, and each boss’s location is hinted by runes and vegvisir stones in its biome.
What should you craft before each boss?
Fight each boss in the tier of gear its own biome produces, not the one before it. The classic gear checks:
- Eikthyr — flint weapons and leather armor are plenty.
- The Elder — bronze weapons and a buckler, plus fire arrows: fire is his ×2 weakness, not his weapon.
- Bonemass — poison-resistance mead is the single most important prep item in the game.
- Moder — full silver gear, obtained with the wishbone Bonemass drops.
- Yagluth — black metal weapons and padded armor from the Plains.
- The Queen — Mistlands-tier gear and food with Eitr for magic builds.
- Fader — Ashlands-tier weapons and armor plus serious fire resistance.
- Kall Fimbulbringer — the 1.0 Deep North lines: Nord, Frostfire, or Thunderblood equipment, plus cold-appropriate food. The Deep North guide covers how to get there.
Can you fight bosses out of order?
Yes, but the game doesn’t scale bosses down to your gear. Experienced players speedrun later bosses under-geared, and world modifiers (or console commands) can trivialize any fight — at the cost of flagging your world as cheated and locking achievements. See what locks achievements in 1.0 before you touch the console.
For most players, the order above is the intended path — and with Kall Fimbulbringer now capping the ladder, the eight-boss road is complete for the first time in Valheim’s history.
