Fader Boss Guide: Beat the Ashlands Fire Wall in Valheim
How to summon Fader with three Bells from Charred Fortresses, his fire immunity and meteor fight, the best Ashlands strategy, and his Adrenaline power.
Fader, the Ashlands’ emerald-flame colossus, is boss seven of eight and the final gate before 1.0’s Deep North. At 25,000 HP he has more than double The Queen’s health pool — this is the longest single fight in the game before the finale, and it is fought entirely inside a Charred colosseum.
How do you summon Fader?
Hang three Bells on the Charred Colosseum. Bells are crafted, not looted: Bell Fragments come from the central towers of Charred Fortresses across the Ashlands — usually two to four per tower — and nine fragments make three Bells at a Black Forge, the Mistlands-era station. So before the fight you will typically raid several fortresses, haul fragments home, and have your forge chain upgraded. The vegvisir in a fortress’s central tower marks the colosseum on your map; the arena itself is a landmark ring out in the ash wastes.
What are Fader’s stats and attacks?
Fader has 25,000 HP and is flatly immune to fire and spirit — leave the fire arrows and the Trollstav home. Pierce is halved, so bows underperform; blunt, slash, frost, and lightning all land at full value and melee carries this fight.
| Attack | Damage | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bite / Claw / Spin | Heavy pierce melee | Frontal arc — roll through, not away |
| Flamebreath | Fire | Cone in front; get to his flanks |
| Meteors | Blunt + Fire AoE | Marked circles; constant arena pressure |
| Fissure | Fire + Spirit | Ground-line attack — watch for the cast |
| Wall of fire | Fire + Spirit | Drawn along the ground; reposition early |
| Roar | — | Phase transition signal — keep moving |
The arena is enclosed and his pressure never stops — this fight rewards clean, consistent play over greedy damage.
What is the best strategy against Fader?
Bring fire resistance and treat it as a marathon, not a sprint. Fire-resistance mead plus the best Ashlands armor you can field is the entry fee; the armor tier list covers the tier, and the food tier list picks the stamina/health split for a fight this long. Use the colosseum walls to break line of sight during the meteor and wall-of-fire phases, keep strafing when his pressure ramps under 35% health, and pick a top Ashlands melee weapon from the weapon tier list — 25k HP means an underleveled weapon turns a hard fight into an unwinnable one. Solo players should expect the fight to take several minutes; in co-op, one player can draw his face while the others work the flanks.
What does Fader drop?
His trophy, the Fader Relic, and the Adrenaline-era Forsaken Power. Fader’s power grants +100% Adrenaline generation, a 50% reduction to your stagger meter, and 50% fire resistance for five minutes — built for the Call to Arms trinket system and aggressive melee play into the endgame. Most importantly, killing Fader is the gear-and-access gate for the Deep North: his drops unlock the road to Kall Fimbulbringer and the ending.
