Yagluth Boss Guide: Summon and Beat Valheim's Plains King
How to summon Yagluth with five Fuling Totems, his resistances and meteor rain, the best fire-resist strategy, and what his drops unlock.
Yagluth, the skeletal sorcerer-king of the Plains, is the last boss of Valheim’s original five and still one of the hardest walls on the ladder. He is half boss, half artillery strike — his meteors reshape the arena while his fire breath punishes anyone who stands still.
How do you summon Yagluth?
Sacrifice five Fuling Totems at his runic altar in the Plains. Totems drop at Fuling villages — roughly a coin-flip chance per bonfire — and from Berserkers and Fuling outposts. Fulings hit harder than anything you’ve fought so far, so raid villages at range and pull packs apart rather than charging in. The altar itself sits inside a Fuling-held region; expect guards on the approach.
What are Yagluth’s stats and attacks?
Yagluth has 10,000 HP and no real weakness — blunt, slash, frost, lightning, and spirit all land full damage. Fire is halved, pierce is quartered, and poison does nothing, so melee is king and archers have a bad night. His kit is entirely telegraphed, which is the only reason he is beatable:
| Attack | Damage | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor rain | Fire AoE | Blue marks on the ground — keep moving |
| Pillar of light | Lightning | Straight-line beam, long wind-up |
| Fire breath | Heavy fire | Cone in front; dodge to his flanks |
| Ground slam | Physical AoE | Punishes melee hugging |
Every big attack gives you a second or more of warning — stamina management is the whole fight.
What is the best strategy against Yagluth?
Fire-resistance mead first, black metal melee second, discipline third. The mead neutralizes his breath and meteor splash; a black metal sword or axe from the weapon tier list deals full damage where arrows lose three-quarters of theirs to his pierce resistance. Use the arena’s stone pillars as cover against the beam, never stand in the meteor markers, and fight him in a three-slot food setup weighted toward health per the food tier list. Padded armor is the gear check; Bonemass’s physical-resist power is the right buff if your dodge timing is shaky.
What does Yagluth drop?
Three Torn Spirits and the Yagluth trophy. The Torn Spirits craft the Wisp Fountain — the mist-clearing tool that makes the Mistlands navigable — so killing Yagluth is the literal gate into that biome and the road to The Queen. His trophy power grants lightning resistance (-50%), +25 Farming skill, and +10% damage dealt for five minutes — situational in combat, and the only farming accelerator in the game. The full run order is mapped in the boss order guide.
