Valheim Traders Guide: Haldor, Hildir, the Bog Witch, and 1.0 Merchants

Valheim’s merchants are scattered, unmarked, and permanently placed once you find them — which makes knowing who sells what worth more than most crafting guides. There are now four established traders plus the four new ones 1.0 added in the Deep North.

Who is Haldor and what does he sell?

The Black Forest trader — the game’s workhorse merchant. His camp spawns somewhere in the Black Forest, revealed by a coin-purse icon when you get close. His stock covers the essential conveniences:

  • Megingjord — the +150 carry-weight belt that changes hauling forever.
  • Fishing rod and baits — the only way into the fishing system (the fishing guide uses them).
  • Thunder stone, dwarven circlet, yule hat — utility and cosmetics.
  • Deeper and Wider Pockets — 1.0’s new inventory upgrades.

Who is Hildir?

The Meadows camp trader and quest-giver. Hildir’s cart spawns in the Meadows; her three-quest line sends you after the miniboss trio — Brenna, Geirrhafa, and Zil & Thungr — who hold her stolen goods in the biome’s dungeons. She trades cosmetics, clothing, fireworks, and the Barber Station for restyling your viking in return, and she’s the friendliest route into the boss-adjacent minibosses.

Who is the Bog Witch?

The Swamp’s feast merchant — the cooking endgame. Her hut sits in the Swamp biome, and her stock is the high-tier cooking pipeline: feast ingredients, the cauldron upgrades, and — only after you defeat Kall Fimbulbringer — the Seasoning of the Gourd for 220 coins, the last ingredient in the Northern Morning Fare feast from the food tier list.

What about the new 1.0 merchants?

Four new merchants landed with the Deep North — their camps are part of the biome’s progression, and they’re the in-world answer to 1.0’s new materials. The Deep North guide and Deep North creatures pages cover the new biome’s economy; the patch notes confirm all four are 1.0 additions.

How do you find traders efficiently?

Follow the vegvisir markers and sail the coasts. Trader camps mark themselves on the map at close range, and the coastal route — a longship and a spyglass — is the reliable sweep. If you’re settling a new world seed, finding Haldor early is the one errand that pays for itself. The world modifiers guide has the map-exploration options if you want to shortcut the search.
