The Queen Boss Guide: Beat the Mistlands' Ruler in Valheim
How to reach The Queen behind the Sealbreaker door, her brood summons and bite attacks, the best Mistlands strategy, and what her power grants in Valheim.
The Queen rules the Mistlands from inside her Infested Citadel — boss six of eight, and the fight that makes the Mistlands’ Eitr era click. She isn’t a raw stat check like Yagluth before her; she’s a resource-management fight where her summoned broods decide the tempo.
How do you summon The Queen?
You don’t summon her — you unlock her. The Queen’s first fight requires no offering: she is already roaming the lower floor of the Infested Citadel. What you need is the door: the citadel’s Dvergr vault opens only with a Sealbreaker, crafted at a Galdr Table from nine Sealbreaker Fragments looted in Infested Mines. Citadel vegvisirs point you to the location; mine runestones show up inside the mines themselves. The fight happens inside — tight corridors, no retreat lanes, adds from every crack. Only rematches use an offering: after the first kill, three Seeker Soldier Trophies on the Hive Seat altar at the top of the citadel summon her again.
What are The Queen’s stats and attacks?
The Queen has 12,500 HP and no weakness — everything lands full damage except pierce, which is halved. Spirit does nothing; she teleports around the citadel instead of flying.
| Attack | Damage | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rush | Heavy melee | Charges down whole corridors — sidestep into side rooms |
| Bite | Pierce + Poison | Frontal punish; roll through or sidestep |
| Spit | Blunt + Poison | Ranged pressure while you’re repositioning |
| Call (brood summon) | — | Broods swarm you — kill them fast |
| Pierce AoE | Heavy pierce | Point-blank area burst; don’t hug her |
Because she summons, total incoming damage keeps climbing the longer the fight drags on — this is a damage race.
What is the best strategy against The Queen?
Kill the broods first, then burst her during the grounded windows. The Mistlands answer to a swarm is the same as everywhere else in this biome — keep moving and thin the adds before they overlap into a wipe. Eitr-food magic builds (food tier list) shine here; melee runs work with carapace-tier armor and a top pick from the weapon tier list. The citadel’s rooms give you corners to break line of sight on her spit — use them between brood waves rather than tanking the ranged phase.

What does The Queen drop?
Her trophy, Majestic Carapaces, and one of the best Forsaken Powers in the game. Hanging her trophy grants: +100% Eitr regeneration, no stamina cost while sneaking, and 50% poison resistance for five minutes — mage builds live on it for the rest of the run. Progression-wise, killing The Queen unlocks the Ashlands tier and clears the road to Fader; the boss order guide shows where you stand on the full eight-boss ladder.
